Wriggles and Giggles was born out of a lifelong passion to make children of all ages happy, share my enthusiasm and zest for how children develop and learn on their journey to “teenage-hood”.

Having grown up in the former East of Germany, I came to England in 2001 after finishing University and since then tried to instil the language, the traditions and especially the outdoors fun into my family and friends lives in Brighton. I am multilingual, speaking German, English, French and Italian and love to integrate little pieces of these countries and languages into my day-to-day with the children – may it be baking using an Italian recipe, playing hopscotch using the written German numbers, or singing and dancing to French music.

For me, its all about bringing children closer to nature, being environmentally aware, growing fruit, veggies, herbs as well as understanding how important little bugs are for our nature. Building teepees and enjoying puddles; introducing the kids to new skills like crocheting or knitting, cooking, baking or working with wood cuttings – all and anything that can support the children’s learning of life skills.

I share my home with my husband Jon, my son Evan who attends primary school and our labradoodle dog, Lilly, who has just turned 2. She is the calmest and gentlest soul there is and absolutely adores children (and lets the kids get away with almost everything). My home is full of laughter and silliness, though as much as I love silliness – I reinforce with everyone to be accountable, share responsibilities, promote kindness and equality.

Aside from working as an Ofsted registered Childminder (Ofsted registration number: 2781997), I have also worked in a school and nursery environment as an Individual Needs Assistant. I am proud liaising and working with Brighton & Hove Brighton City Council (Families children and learning dept.) regarding Wrap Around Care. Currently training to become a certified Level 3 Forest School Lead, I am also constantly keeping my learnings up to speed regarding the ‘Understanding and working with EYFS’ and ‘Outlined effective early learning goals’. I am fully DBS checked, Paediatric First Aid trained and hold the Certificate of Achievement of Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety.

Even our dog Lilly completed her ‘trainings’ and is an officially certified therapy dog by the charity Pets As Therapy.

All in all, if you feel that my home, my family and my approach could be the right environment for your child, I’d love you to get in touch – Thank you !
